Positive Impact Project: Jeffrey's Mission

Life-changing events can shift a person's perception. This is definitely true for Jeffrey. The battle with cancer opened his eyes to the fundamentals upon which the Project was built:
• Every person possesses gifts that can be shared to help others personally and professionally (ex. knowledge, skills, resources, material things)
• Express gratitude to those that have had an impact on our lives especially those that passed the gifts to us or nurtured them
• Continue the Cycle of Influence by sharing our gifts with others
• Let your priorities be your guide especially when knocked off course
• Life is too short and precious to waste it!

Jeffrey wants to change the way people approach their work and life. The focus should be on WE, not me! That shift in thinking can create collaboration and a genuine concern for others in the workplace, home and community. It is about getting back to the basics.

The ultimate goal of the Positive Impact Project is to plant the seed of giving that will hopefully blossom into a lifetime of service, personally and professionally.

Jeffrey Rowe: Big, Bald & Beautiful!
(not completely true but it sounds good)

Jeffrey is the founder and president of Quick Access Training, Inc. now doing business as Positive Impact Project (the name sounds better and the initials are easier for him to remember).  He provides customized training, education, and professional speaking services to corporations, federal agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.

At the age of 19, Jeffrey delivered his first motivational speech at a Midwest medical conference.  He hasn’t stopped talking since then.  We had to take away his wooden crate so he would quite delivering speeches on downtown sidewalks.  Now we make him spend more time writing programs, speeches and blog posts.  Heck, one day the bald guy may actually finish writing his first book. Most of Jeffrey’s work is accomplished at Office #2.  Yes, chances are you will find him holding a Chai Tea Latte in one hand and typing with the other at any Starbucks that will let him in the building.

Jeffrey is actively involved as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Cancer Support Community, National Speakers Association, Spokes of Hope and at his daughter’s school (that one is his favorite!). He was awarded Executive of the Year by the Association of Boys and Girls Clubs Professionals in 2001. Additionally, he created the Cancer Survivor Coin, a symbol of pride and achievement for fellow cancer survivors.

Jeffrey lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his lovely wife, Lucie, and their amazing daughter, Aneshka. His motto: “Life is beautiful so LIVE, GIVE & LOVE every day!”

Jeffrey Rowe Is Everywhere!
(OK, at least the name is)

There are way too many guys out there named Jeffrey Rowe. We want to help with all the confusion. The Jeffrey Rowe of Positive Impact Project is not the:

•NFL quarterback
(The only connection to pro sports for the one we know is being glued to the TV every July watching the Tour de France)

•Male fashion model in Japan
(Our Jeffrey is not that pretty but he was high school homecoming king!)

•Professional musician
(If a kazoo can get you a music career our guy would be rockin' the stage!)

•Automotive manufacturing Quality Manager
(Putting gas in the car is hard enough for the big bald guy!)

•Electromechanical designer, doctor, or computer programmer
(none of these; they are just way too smart!)

The Jeffrey Rowe we know and love shaves his head, has a goatee, finds humor in life's negatives, and loves to beat cancer. He is also a husband, father, cancer warrior, cyclist, kayaker, and avid reader. Almost forgot, this Jeffrey Rowe is a speaker, trainer and consultant.

By the way, our Jeffrey and his family pronounce their last name like how, now brown cow. It does not sound like row, row your boat. The E on the end of the name is supposed to change the pronunciation. Apparently the rest of the Rowe's out there did not get the memo decades ago!

A pair of Jeffrey Rowe's cufflink collection. He wears thse old typing keys so he wonn't forget his initials!

Jeffrey's Own Positive Impact Project
Since 2002: The Cancer Survivor Coin

The Cancer Survivor Coin™ was created to be a tangible piece of hope and symbol of pride for cancer warriors. The idea was based on the military tradition of Challenge Coins. The coins are given to members upon joining an organization and meant as a way to prove membership and boost morale. The Cancer Survivor Coin is meant to do the same for cancer warriors. Anyone can wear a ribbon or other symbols but only those that have battled the c can be honored with this medallion.

Just like a coin, life has two sides for those diagnosed with cancer. One side represents the need to find the physical and emotional power inside each of us to beat the horrible disease. The other side reminds us to celebrate life every day. As survivors, we must find a way to balance both sides of our lives.

The first side of the coin displays a symbol designed by a young teenager after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. The lightning bolt – an icon from his early childhood – symbolizes power and energy. The two letters are the abbreviation for "Beat Cancer". This logo became his daily reminder to get up and fight and to believe deep inside that he had The Power to Beat Cancer!

The second side of the coin offers an important message for cancer survivors. The center emblem evolved out of the original design once the young man turned his life full-circle and realized that he was a survivor, not a victim. At that moment he learned as a survivor he must also focus on The Power to Live!

Jeffrey has a silver Cancer Survivor Coin in his left pant pocket all the time. He carries one as a reminder to himself and as a token that he can share with fellow warriors. Anytime he meets another survivor he pulls the coin out of his pocket and gives it to them. He tells them the story behind the coin, gives them a hug and listens to their story. It is not uncommon for Jeffrey to receive calls, letters and emails from the recipients or their families express their feelings about the medallion.

Since 2002, Jeffrey has personally handed out more than 1,500 Cancer Survivor Coins. It is one of his life projects.

Life is beautiful!

What's Up With The Lightning Bolt?

Jeffrey’s infatuation with lightning started at a young age when, from the window of his family’s living room, he witnessed lightning strike a tree.  It split the tree right down the middle and it started to burn. That experience opened his eyes to the power of lightning.

By the way, the answer is, “No.” He did not pull a Roy Hobbs.  At no time did he carve a piece of the tree into a baseball bat or play for the New York Knights!

After making the original Power to Beat Cancer poster (pictured on the left), the lightning bolt became an even more powerful symbol.  The original design can be found on all of Jeffrey’s business cards, handouts, website, and even his leg.  It was either a lightning bolt inked on the back of his left calf or a dancing mermaid on his forearm.  We think he made the right choice!
